Dr Liu has worked with Maggie to develop the transdisciplinary curriculum to maximize students’ language exposure in all subjects.
Our Story
With a view to further developing one of the neglected teaching and learning areas, Maggie founded and established ABC College to teach Chinese heritage Australian’s Mandarin and cultural studies in 2017. Her strong belief in early intervention lead undertake this project providing Chinese language programs to young learners from 4 years old the golden time of language learning.
Having worked within the South Australian government school system for 10 years and private sector for 3 years, Maggie have developed a very sound knowledge of how curriculum is developed and implemented.
One of the biggest challenges the team faced in establishing ABC College was the lack of ready-to-use curriculum and pedagogical framework.
Establishing an effective program took many hours of curriculum referencing, researching benchmarks, and studying the requirements of IBPYP curriculum, IBMYP curriculum, and Australian Curriculum. The application of Australian Curriculum and International Baccalaureate Primary Year Program (IBPYP) facilitates teachers to engage students and improve their language learning and intercultural understanding. After establishing a program framework, teachers then had to pilot and test the program seeking comments and feedback from colleagues, teaching piers and families.
